Abdulahi Rashid Kawawa has left NEC FC, with the talented midfielder now attracting interest from two Uganda Premier League clubs, Lugazi FC and Express FC.
As earlier reported, Kawawa has parted ways with NEC FC as he considers his next move ahead of the ongoing 2026/27 season. His departure is expected to generate considerable interest, given his experience in Uganda's top-flight football and his previous achievements.
Kawawa joined NEC FC during the mid-season transfer window after making the switch from Express FC. His move to NEC came after a spell with the Red Eagles, where he had established himself as a promising young player.
The midfielder previously won the 2021/22 Uganda Premier League Young Player of the Season award, recognition that highlighted his potential and performances at the highest level of Ugandan football.
With his availability now confirmed, Lugazi FC and former club Express FC are reportedly among the clubs monitoring his situation. A return to Express would represent a reunion with the club he previously represented, while a move to Lugazi would give Kawawa an opportunity to begin a new chapter with the ambitious side.
Kawawa's next destination is yet to be confirmed, but the interest from both clubs underlines the quality and experience he could bring to a new squad.
As the transfer situation develops, attention will now turn to where the 2021/22 Young Player of the Season will continue his career.
