The
Buganda Regional League (BRL) 2025/26 season, organized under the Federation of
Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) through the Buganda Regional Football
Association (BRFA), is entering its climactic final stages. With 25 to 26
matchdays completed for most clubs, the title race remains intensely
competitive as league leaders Simba FC and second-placed Buwambo United FC are
level on 55 points each. The relegation battle is equally tense, with three
clubs — Manyangwa FC, Kiboga United SC, and Super Eagles Lugongwe FC — fighting
to avoid the drop.
The
championship battle has evolved into a gripping duel between Simba FC and
Buwambo United FC, both locked on 55 points after 25 games each. Simba FC
currently hold the top spot by virtue of their superior goal difference of +31,
identical to Masaka City SC in third, while Buwambo United FC boast a goal
difference of +22.
Masaka
City SC are the only side with 26 games played — trailing the leaders by four
points with 51 — and remain in strong contention. Young Simba FC (48 points)
complete a formidable top four, making the run-in one of the most exciting in
the league's recent history.
NOTE: Super
Eagles Lugongwe FC & Kiboga United SC — Docked 6 pts & 6 goals. Buikwe
Red Stars FC & Synergy FC — Docked 3 pts & 3 goals.
Uganda
Sports Arena FC (40 pts) and Kira United FC (39 pts) sit in fifth and sixth
respectively, offering stability but unlikely title or relegation concerns.
Nantabulirwa FC (37 pts) and Wobulenzi United FC (32 pts) occupy seventh and
eighth, while Nyendo FC (31 pts) and Kajjansi United FC (30 pts) round out the
upper-mid table group.
Seeta
United FC and Synergy FC, both on 28-30 points, will be keen to finish the
season on a high but are safely mid-table. It is worth noting that Synergy FC
have been docked 3 points and 3 goals, slightly distorting their natural
standing.
Three
clubs occupy the danger zone, with Kiboga United SC (20 pts) and Buikwe Red
Stars FC (9 pts) facing serious relegation threats. Super Eagles Lugongwe FC,
who have played only 15 games — significantly fewer than the rest of the field
— sit bottom with just 5 points, compounded by a 6-point deduction. Their
season has been severely disrupted and the club faces an almost certain drop.
Manyangwa
FC (22 pts) are also in the red zone, having struggled to find consistent form.
With matches running out, all three clubs at the bottom face an uphill task to
secure their top-flight status. Kiboga United SC and Super Eagles Lugongwe FC
each had 6 points and 6 goals deducted — a punitive measure that has all but
sealed their fate.
The
golden boot race is locked in a fascinating tie at the top. Muhammad Meddie
Kasule of Masaka City SC and Derrick Taremwa of Young Simba FC both lead the
charts with 23 goals apiece, setting up a compelling final-day battle for the
individual honour.
Sam Ssemugugu of league leaders Simba FC is third with 15 goals, while William Kinene (Wobulenzi United FC, 14 goals) and a trio on 11 goals each — Owen Mawejje, Shafiq Nyanzi, and Shafrick Sonko — complete a competitive list.
Match
Day 27 presents a blockbuster round of fixtures that could go a long way in
deciding the league title, as well as the clubs that will suffer relegation.
All seven fixtures kick off simultaneously at 4:00 PM on Sunday 17th May 2026.
The
standout match of the round is Wobulenzi United FC vs Simba FC at Katikamu
Vete. Currently sitting eighth on 32 points, Wobulenzi United will be looking
to upset the leaders and play the role of kingmakers. For Simba FC, a win would
extend their advantage over Buwambo United FC and potentially seal the title
depending on Buwambo's result at home to Kira United FC.
Uganda
Sports Arena FC hosts Masaka City SC at Ntenjeru Ssaza Ground in Kayunga. For
Masaka, only a win will keep their slim title hopes alive. With top scorer
Kasule in lethal form on 23 goals, the visiting side will rely heavily on his
firepower to claim three crucial points.
Kiboga United SC take on Kajjansi United FC at the Ssaza Ground in Kiboga. Already docked 6 points, Kiboga United desperately need a win to stave off relegation. Meanwhile, Manyangwa FC face Nyendo FC at Uganda Martyrs SS in Ssonde — a match with significant implications at the foot of the table.
The
Buganda Regional League 2025/26 season is heading towards a breathtaking climax
across all storylines. At the top, the title will likely be decided in the
final one or two matchdays, with Simba FC needing to hold off the persistent
challenge of Buwambo United FC. The golden boot battle between Kasule and
Taremwa adds an individual subplot that is equally captivating.
At
the bottom, Buikwe Red Stars FC and Super Eagles Lugongwe FC look almost
certain to be relegated barring extraordinary reversals of form. Kiboga United
SC and Manyangwa FC will fight until the final whistle to stay up.
Fans across the Buganda region can look forward to an electrifying Match Day 27 as all 14 sides involved dig deep in pursuit of their respective targets. The Buganda Regional Football Association and FUFA continue to ensure competitive, well-organized football at the regional
