The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has confirmed a last-minute change of venue for the 52nd Stanbic Uganda Cup final, switching the high-stakes showdown between SC Villa and Kitara FC from its originally announced location to a neutral ground.

Last week, FUFA had confirmed FUFA Kadiba Stadium in Mengo as the venue to host the 52nd edition of the competition. However, the decision was swiftly challenged by one of the finalists.

Kitara FC raised concerns through a letter from their CEO Joshua Atugonza regarding the choice of venue, arguing it was unfair to have the final played at the stadium where SC Villa host their home games.

FUFA listened. With just a few days to the epic game, FUFA has confirmed the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru as the new venue, while the date remains Saturday, 30th May.

There is also a change to kick-off arrangements. The kickoff time has changed from 4PM to 3PM, with tickets priced at Shs 10,000 for ordinary entry and Shs 50,000 for VIP.

The stakes could not be higher. The winner of this final will qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup.

SC Villa made it to the final after a 3-0 aggregate victory over Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) played in two legs — winning 2-0 away at Hamz Stadium before triumphing 1-0 at their Kadiba fortress in the return leg.

Kitara qualified at the expense of Vipers after a nervy 1-1 draw away at St Mary's Stadium to progress on the away goals rule, having played out a goalless first leg at the Royal Park in Butema, Hoima City.

Kitara will be seeking to claim their second title, while SC Villa eye an unprecedented 10th. The Jogoos are nine-time competition winners, with their most recent triumph coming in 2015 when they beat KCCA FC in the final.

Football fans across Uganda will now descend on Njeru this Saturday for what promises to be a thrilling finale to a memorable cup campaign.
