Ugandan forward Muhammad Shaban is attracting fresh interest after talks with Indian side East Bengal failed to produce an agreement over personal terms.
The Kolkata-based club opened discussions with the free-agent striker following his departure from Kitara FC, with both parties exploring the possibility of Shaban continuing his career in India. However, negotiations eventually stalled after the two sides failed to reach common ground on the player's personal terms.
Shaban is now back on the radar of clubs at home, with URA FC emerging as a potential destination for the experienced forward.
The Tax Collectors are reportedly open to bringing Shaban on board as they look to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the new season. His experience at the top level of Ugandan football could make him an attractive addition to the URA squad.
The former Vipers SC, KCCA FC and Onduparaka FC forward has built a reputation as a proven goalscorer, having featured for several of Uganda's leading clubs.
For URA, adding Shaban would provide valuable experience and another attacking option, particularly as the club seeks to build a squad capable of competing strongly domestically.
While discussions are understood to be ongoing, a move to URA would give Shaban an opportunity to relaunch his career in the Uganda Premier League after his latest spell with Kitara FC.
For now, the two sides are in talks, with URA showing willingness to make the move happen. A deal could see the experienced forward return to the UPL and lead the line for the Tax Collectors next season.
