St Mary’s Kitende have been crowned FEASSA Games 2026 football champions after producing a determined performance to defeat hosts Morogoro Secondary School 2–1 in the final held in Morogoro, Tanzania.
The Ugandan school side once again underlined its dominance in East African school football, finishing the tournament on the highest possible note with a hard-earned victory against the Tanzanian hosts.
Kitende’s success was powered by goals from Isaac Tebenkana and Jordan Tugume, who found the back of the net to give their side the advantage in a closely contested final.
The final lived up to expectations as both teams battled for regional supremacy. Morogoro SS, backed by the home crowd, managed to score once, but Kitende showed the composure and resilience required at the biggest stage to protect their lead and secure the championship.
Isaac Tebenkana opened Kitende’s scoring account, giving the Ugandan representatives an important boost in the final. His goal provided Kitende with the platform to control the contest and put pressure on the hosts.
Jordan Tugume then added another crucial goal for Kitende, ensuring the Ugandan side remained in front as the match entered its decisive stages.
Morogoro SS pulled one goal back, setting up a tense finish, but Kitende held firm to see out the game and secure a memorable 2–1 victory.
The triumph adds another major achievement to St Mary’s Kitende’s impressive history in school football. The institution has consistently produced talented players and competitive teams capable of performing at both national and regional level.
Winning the FEASSA Games title in Tanzania is particularly significant because the competition brings together some of the strongest secondary school teams from across East Africa.
