Uganda Cranes defender Rogers Torach Ochaki has completed a move to Algerian Ligue 1 side CS Constantine, signing a three-year contract that runs until 2029 following his departure from Vipers SC.
The Algerian club confirmed the transfer on their social media channels with a short welcome message for the 23-year-old, ending weeks of speculation over the centre-back's future at Kitende.
Torach becomes only the second Ugandan to feature in the Algerian top flight, following attacking midfielder Allan Okello, who spent two seasons at Paradou AC between 2020 and 2022. Okello's spell in North Africa was a difficult one, cut short amid injury problems and off-field frustrations, and Torach will be hoping for a smoother introduction to a league that ranks among the continent's most demanding.
The move caps a rapid rise for a player who was promoted from the St. Mary's Kitende setup into the Vipers senior squad at the start of the 2022/23 season. He signed for the club in July 2022 and quickly turned himself into a first-choice defender.
Across four seasons with the Venoms, Torach collected three Uganda Premier League titles and two Stanbic Uganda Cups. At 1.89m, the lanky defender built his reputation on aerial dominance and reading of the game, and his versatility — he is comfortable filling in at right-back — made him one of the most dependable names on coach's team sheets at Kitende.
Torach's international trajectory has been just as steep. He came through the Uganda U20 ranks before captaining the Hippos to a silver medal at the 2024 All Africa Games in Ghana, and made his senior debut for the Cranes the same year in a 2-0 friendly win over Kuwait in Egypt.
His defining moment in national colours came at the 2025 African Nations Championship, where he wore the armband and scored the crucial equaliser against South Africa — a goal that carried Uganda into the knockout stages of the competition for the first time in the country's history.
CS Constantine, based in the eastern city of Constantine and playing their home games at the Stade Mohamed-Hamlaoui, finished ninth in the Algerian Ligue 1 last season. The club has a proud recent history, having won the domestic title in 2018 and competed in the CAF Champions League, and will look to Torach to add height and composure to a back line that has at times been the side's strongest asset.
For Ugandan football, the transfer represents another marker of the local league's growing export value, with Vipers in particular continuing to serve as a launchpad for players moving into North African and East African markets.
